Attention all East Kingston 3rd thru 6th graders:
Basketball season is approaching quickly.

This year we are looking at a very different season versus what we are all used to. With the unknowns of SAU gym use, and the ability to host games in question, we were forced to make some tough decisions.

Locally, our options were very limited. Stratham and Lamprey leagues have a gym requirement, and it also looks like both options may not even happen. For that reason, the Rim League seems to be the place everyone is shifting too. There was so much demand, they filled up with teams over a month ago, so we had signed up there to ensure our kids have a place to play this season.

So we will be playing our teams in The Rim Basketball League. The League does have specific Covid guidelines in place that will be given tot he coaches.

As far as practices go, we are in the process of securing some rented gym space to provide at least one 45 minute practice per week for each team. Obviously, we are hopeful the SAU gyms will open up and allow us to use them as we have in the past. But that is an unknown at this point and the gym rentals are full as well, so we had to act now.

Team practices will begin the week of October 28th. It appears all the teams will practice on Wednesdays in the 3:30 - 5:00 range at this point. Confirmation of that will be coming. The actual game season will begin the first weekend in December. There will be one game per week at The Rim in Hampton. Games are played on the weekends anytime between Friday and Sunday evening.

Due to the costs associated with gym rental fees, uniforms and the league fees we are forced to increase the cost to play to $125 per player. Families with 2 or more players can take $25 off per additional players. We are sorry about the costs, but unfortunately the cost of the gym rentals is driving that. The Recreation Department is absorbing a significant amount of the costs to keep the price as low as we can.

Coaches for the season are as follows:
3/4 Girls: Donovan Reed
3/4 Boys: Melissa Lyons
5/6 Girls: Brian Pettinato
5/6 Boys: Mike Farrand

We will also be offering 1/2 skills this season. That registration and program will begin in December.

Sadly, we will not be able to host Kindergarten this season.

Registration will be open until October 27th.

If you have any questions please reach out to the coaches or myself. My contact: or text 978-382-1555.

Thank you all!
